The red fox is the largest of the true foxes and range the entire Northern Hemisphere and parts of North Africa. They live in diverse habitats including forests, grasslands, mountains and deserts. They also adapt well to human environments. The California Red fox also known as the Sierra Nevada Red Fox is listed as the one of the most endangered mammals in North America with an estimated population of only 18 – 39 in the wild.
