Koalas are not bears, they are a marsupials. Habitat loss is the greatest threat due to land clearing, bush fires and eucalyptus trees dying from diseases. Less than 50,000 remain in Australia’s wild and are currently listed as vulnerable, but there is a move to change it to endangered.
