Gannets are a large sea bird closely related to boobies. The Northern Gannets are the largest seabirds in the North Atlantic having a wingspan up to 6.5’. They fish by diving into the sea and pursuing their prey underwater. In order for them to do this they do not have external nostrils and have air sacs in their face to cushion the impact with the water. They are listed as Least Concern, in fact their numbers are increasing.
